HCS SCS SB 666 -- SCHOOL INTRADISTRICT STUDENT TRANSFERS
SPONSOR: Bland (Bland)
COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on
Education by a vote of 23 to 0.
This substitute requires school districts to have a policy by
July 1, 2004, on student transfers between schools within the
district if the district has more than one attendance center that
contains the same grade levels.
FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds.
PROPONENTS: Supporters say that parents need to know what
policies apply to moving from one school to another at the same
grade level in a district, especially when planning a move. This
information should be public information.
Testifying for the bill were Senator Bland; and Representative
Cunningham (86).
OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
